p on Friday in Bloomington, Ind. with the crowing of the 2011 adidas National Championships winners. Here is a look at how some of the teams fared this week.
In the National bracket, the Minnesota Stars – Taylor (U17) defeated the Ohio Lady Hoopsters (U16), 43-26, to capture the title. The Stars were led by the hot shooting of Heather Bowe, who scored 21 points in her team’s victory.
New Life 17 squeaked out a 34-32 win over Minnesota Stars – Dewitt (U), 34-32, to earn third place in the National bracket. Lexus Williams scored 10 points in the Stars victory.
In the Open Red bracket, Indiana Explosion Larkin (U14) took the title by defeating the Minnesota Stars – Wilhelm (U14), 70-45. Tayler Goodall led Indiana Explosion in scoring with 19 points. Destiny Washington also chipped in 14 points for the Explosion.
New York adidas (U13) took third place in the Open Red bracket with a 58-49 victory over Indiana Elite Central – Cain (U13). Sidney Lowery and Ihnacise Grady each scored 15 points to help New York adidas onto victory.
Meanwhile, Indiana Explosion – Bailey (U14) captured the Select Red championship with a 51-35 win over Minnesota Stars – Rogers (U14). Ali Patberg scored 10 points and three others scored eight to secure the win for the Explosion.
The Minnesota Stars – Bebo squad defeated the Indiana Elite SWISH – Saiko team 56-54 to earn third place in the Select Red bracket.
A huge game by Tyra Buss helped Indiana Elite SWISH – Kessler (U15) pick up the championship in the Select Blue bracket. Buss scored 32 points in Indiana Elite’s 61-55 victory over adidas team Maryland white (U15).
St. Louis team adidas – Merritt (U14) defeated the Minnesota Stars – Smith (U15), 54-47, for third place in the Select Blue bracket.
In the Elite Red bracket, the Tri-State Express (U17) out of Illinois defeated the Dayton Vipers (U16), 45-32 to secure the championship. Kassidy Gengenbacher scored 13 points, including three three-pointers to help the Express to victory.
Three members of Indiana’s Finest – Duke (U16) scored in double figures in a 50-42 victory over Indiana Elite SWISH – Oberg (U17) to secure third place in the Elite Red bracket.
The Columbus Chaos 17 defeated the Capital City Comets (U17) to capture the Elite Blue title.
